1.5 P ROJECT G OVERNANCE Project governance provides an integrated structure to ensure project is delivered in accordance with expectations of the business, communications are structured to ensure information is provided to the right leadership in a timely manner and that there are clear structures for decision making. People who fill a governance function approve, reject or modify recommendations made by the project team and monitor project progress in achieving the desired outcomes. They maintain linkages between project teams and strategic or business objectives that can change over the course of the project.

The structure of the governance organisation for a project should be appropriate to the scale and complexity of the project (no one size fits all). The following are some examples of governance models for different types of projects.

Project Governance Model: Low Complexity

Project Definition - Low Complexity:

• Standardization and technology improvement (example equipment obsolescence). No impact to product or package design. Recommendations: Establish strategic partnerships with key vendors to expedite equipment procurement and services. Watch-outs: If assigning an overall technical lead, need to evaluate soft skills to work as a leader across areas.
